Mini Fest 2016 - Results

A great day at the British Mini Clubs Mini Fest 2016 at Uttoxeter Racecourse in Staffordshire. Fortunatly the rain on the saturday moved away east and a lovely dry day on the Sunday With a fantastic turn of some regular show cars and some new ones as well. Which is always great to see.

With some top quality Mini's entered in both Classic and Modern Concours it was incredibly tough to decide an overall Mini Of The Day. But our Chief Judge Fiona Mannion and David Hollis had a look at all the class winners, after much deliberation they just had to choose the incredible Mini Traveller (woody) owned by Andrew Nash. The restoration of this incredible Mini is truly a work of art. If you saw it on the day you know exactly what we mean.

Did you see the ex Liverpool Police Mini Cooper S making it's first show appearance at Mini Fest. Found in Manchester and restored to how it would have been it looked superb. Along with the transformed Mini Cooper Tribute owned by Lee Roberts. Lee told us this was his first ever car and he still owns it now and created into a tribute to John Cooper with some very nice touches.

It's lovely to see more MINI's entering concours as well the standard is definatly improving. The one that caught our eye was the all black Cooper S owned by Jake Lee, it is a real credit to him and can only better.

All the class winners go through to the Premier Concours Final at Mini Fair 2 Stoneleigh, October 16th

Show N Shine is great fun without all the pressure of concours. A great way to show of your Mini to the general public and other Mini fans. Voted for by other entrants the classic winer was attracting admiring looks all day. The stuning MK1 Austin Mini 287 MOX took the prize. The new MINI won by VO06 EZT was a close call as the standard was just so good. The blue Cooper  was a deserved winner althou the blinged interior of a Cooper S called MIMI was certainly very different,

The Club stands put on a great display as always and our thanks to them. With Wirral Mini's taking the top prize. Although the Midland JCW Owners Group had the biggest surprise of the day with 2nd place. To be fair is was deserved as they put on a great display.

Scroll down for some great images of the winners

We broadcast a live broadcast over Facebook of the award presentations. Follow the link to enjoy the fun

Gen 1 MINI Display at Mini Fest 2016

To celebrate 15 years since the very succesfull launch of the modern MINI back in 2001, and to continue the theme from our Himley Hall show, the British Mini Club are putting on a display of Gen 1 MINI's at our Mini Fest event on the 4th September 2016 at Uttoxeter Racecourse in Staffordshire. 2016. An excellent event for lovers of all things Mini.

The MINI range included the MINI One, Cooper and Cooper D when introduced in 2001. Known also as the R50, the R represented 'Rover'. In 2002 came the much sought after Supercharged MINI Cooper S known as the R53. Many prefer the Supercharged MINI to the turbo replacement. The whole range had a facelift in 2004 and ended with the limited editions of the Park Lane Cooper and the Checkmate Cooper S in 2006. Plus the amazing GP1  The Gen 1 Cabriolet (R52) ran from 2004 right up to 2008.

If you are lucky enough to one of these beauties built between 2001 and 2006 for the hatch and 2004 and 2008 for the open top we would love you to take part in our display at Mini Fest. A magnificent setting for such a wonderful era of the modern MINI.

To make the display even more special the British Mini Club are introducing trophies in a Show N Shine style self judging. Book in today and come along to Mini Fest 2016 with your Generation One MINI. Remember it's your show and you could win a trophy to take home as well.

Standard, custom, lowered, Special Edition, John Cooper works, and of course the GP1 we love to see them all. Spend the day at Mini Fest 2016 amongst Mini/MINI fans, soak up the atmosphere and enjoy being a part of the Mini scene. Just £10 per MINI entry fee, this includes entry for the driver. Extra passengers are £9 each.

As the date approaches no need to pre-book. Just turn up nice and early on the day and let the marshalls know you wish to part of the unique Generation One Display and they will direct you to the correct part of the Showground.

Mini Fest 2015 - Show Results

What a great day that was. With Christina Moran winning Best Mini/MINI Of The Day and a cheque for £250. Her recently restored Mini Cooper S Downton really is stunning. Although when they purchased the very rough Mini it still had all the Downton items. Most had to restored or part remanufactured. Though the Downton did have it easy to win the coveted prize. Steve Moore with his remarkable GP ran her a very close second. We had quite a long debate amongst ourselves as to who to choose from the class winners. Eventually we had to call on one of our Premier judges to go and have another look around both of the cars. They were literally seperated by the condition of one bolt head. It really was that close.

Well done to everyone involved the competition moves up a level every single show. How good was it to see an quite rare in the UK Australian spec Mini Clubman S, The Aussies certainly had far better interior trim the models available in the UK. Though it does make it harder to source as well. What about those two GP2 girls Helen Granger and Sarah Wixon. Both MINI's are top quality and very soon they will win the class and get through to the red carpet. Then the gloves will be off! Remember all class winners go through to the Premier Final at Mini Fair 2 at Stonleigh on October 18th.

Show N Shine was excellent this year with more Mini's entered. We also moved them from the grandstand area into the main show area, which looked far better. Everyone looked to be enjoying themselves and enjoyed voting for a winner. This will certainly be a regular part of future British Mini Clubs events.

Did you enjoy the live arena? We certanly did it was great fun with so much interaction from the crowd. Highlight of the arena was possibly the loudest exhaust, That was great fun with both Men and ladies getting very involved. Starting with 110db from a very tasty MINI Cooper S right up to 126db from a Honda powered Mini from Mansfield. Even a young 14 year old was taking part in his very own Mini. Fantastic to see the younger element enjoying the Mini.

Watch the Loudest Exhaust stand off here.

With a 17yr old and a stuning Sportspack Mini entering loudest horn with Colonel Bogey being beaten by a cow horn! great fun. The ICE was a close run thing. With the owner of the Red Sportspack saying the Mini next to him would win as he had more power. Er no he didn't. But he certainly gave it a good go.

Mini Fest 2015 Loudest Exhaust Video

Well that was exciting. The live arena resounding to the tune Mini exhausts. and ear splitting noise, especially the people standing behind the Mini's. With great interaction from the packed grandstand the noise was incredible. Much like a jet taking of from nearby East Midlands Airport.

Oddly enough as we moved along the line of Mini's starting with an 09 MINI Cooper S, who put a very credible 110db, right upto the Honda powered Classic Mini, the decibel reading went up with every entrant. All the way to a very loud 126.1db. With Terry taking the crown for the 3rd time.

With the final results reading

1st: C123 YKK 126.1db

2nd: KCK 71F 123db

3rd: K3 GAN 122.8db

The video below captures the fun. Please enjoy and share
