17 year old Alex pushed her way through a massive crowd at presentation time at the British Mini Clubs Mini Fair at Bingley Hall near Stafford. Described by the Mini fraternity after the show as the Number 1 show in the Mini calendar, Over the years the British Mini Club have raffled well over 50 top draw Classic Minis and this one was no exception.
A one owner, low mileage Mini 30 was stored for 6 years whilst the owner was working in the USA. His plan was to come back home home and start driving his Mini again. However the draw of a life in the USA was just to much and unable to import the Mini, he called his father and suggested it be sold to the British Mini Club so we could find his pride and joy a good home. A perfect car for our raffle and what better place than Mini Fair 2012.
Big queues all day for tickets we knew we had a good car and for just £1.00 a ticket and £250 towards insurance from show sponsors Footman James how could anyone resist such a topm example of a Mini from years gone by.
4pm arrived, trophies presented and time for the draw. Good friend of the BMC Gerrard Hughes, of Mini Magazine fame, was asked to put his hand in the box and draw the wining ticket. Dave Hollis read out 'White 554' a deathly silence. Then a young lady appeared very red faced with ticket in hand. Dave compared the two and announced 'Your The Winner' Alex sad that she already owned one MIni and was certainly very pleased to win this one.
She was photographed by a crowd of Paperazzi and was overheard to say amongst a massive smile that with all the flash of the cameras she felt very famous, and that smile never left her face. Probably felt like a film star for a few minutes. People in the halls even took to Twitter to express their congratulations using the hashtag #minifair. Well done Alex we hope you enjoy your Mini.
We can make your day as well, just visit Himley where we will have another Classic MIni for everyone to win. We can assure you it will be a top class Mini.
Talking of Himley we sould love to get as many of our previous raffle cars together. So if you won or know anyone who did then please get in touch.
